- Position Description:
- We are seeking a highly motivated senior scientist with broad hands-on experience in both cell and in vivo assay development to lead our biomarker group at AstraZeneca Innovation Center China. The successful candidate will be able to lead a group to independently design and execute experiments for biomarker assays, validate the assays using both pre-clinical and clinical samples, and deliver the validated biomarker assays for early clinical trials.
- Major Responsibilities:

- Provide scientific leadership in identifying and effectively planning of biomarker studies for late stage drug discovery projects
- Design and execute assays using molecular readouts to explore the mechanisms for candidate biomarkers
- Design and execute in vivo and ex vivo biomarker assay using techniques such as Elisa, Bioplex, FACS and Immunohistochemistry
- Experience on blood and tissue acquisition and preparation for biomarker assays
- Effectively work with clinical study teams to evaluate, validate and progress pre-clinical biomarkers for clinical trials
- Operationally support application of validated biomarkers for clinical trials
- Familiar with in vivo efficacy models to explore in vivo PK, PD and efficacy marker relationships
- Organize, report and communicate study outcome to the project team
- Maintain clear records of experimental work and deliver data package for IND filing and early clinical trials
- Perform as an effective leader who supervises and coaches research associates
- Minimum Requirements:

- Ph.D in biological science with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience working with cancer therapeutical agents (e.g. small molecules or/and biologics) in animal models, preferably within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to lead team and project are essential
- Current knowledge of agents used in clinical oncology desirable
- A strong scientific curiosity and a "can-do" attitude is required to be successful for this position
